Can't visit the shelter? A humane educator can come to you! 

Group education programs at CHS feature interactive, educational presentations and can be hosted at our shelter as well as offsite for students in grades K-12. Programs are tailored to the audience’s age level and interests and are available to all audiences — including friend and family groups, schools, clubs, home school groups, and community organizations.

  • Compassion Towards Animals

    30 minute interactive storytelling lesson utilizing a humane education picture book helping kiddos to understand all of the components needed to get a great pet owner and animal advocate. 

  • Safety & Respect: Understanding Animal Body Language

    Safety & Respect: Understanding Animal Body Language

    40 minute presentation teaches students basic information about the ways animals communicate their needs and emotions through body language. Understanding what an animal is saying increases empathy and respect and can also keep children safe.

    30 minute presentation covers all you've ever wanted to know about CHS.  Learn about the history of the organization, how animals find their way to they shelter, as well information on programs and services offered by CHS that help both people and their pets. Find out how you can get involved in our mission and make a difference in the lives of shelter animals.

  • Intro to Animal Welfare

    40 minute presentation teaches students about age appropriate animal related issues that we work with at CHS as well as abroad in animal welfare including spay and neuter, animal adoption and rehoming, consequences of puppy mills, animal emergencies and community cat programs.

    40 minute presentation covers information regarding the wide variety of career options available to those interested in sheltering or working with animals in the future.  Attendees will discuss the benefits and challenges of these careers and learn more about the training and education required to pursue them.
