Celebrate Me Home

Dear Friends,

We are very excited to announce that Capital Humane Society has begun a $2.9 million dollar capital campaign, CELEBRATE ME HOME, to build a new Animal Adoption Center for the animals in our care. Our current shelter is simply no longer able to accomodate all the animals we take in.

Last year, nearly 9,000 animals came through our doors seeking new homes. And this year we expect to see even more! Current zoning laws prevent us from expanding our present location. We must have more space to provide this growing animal population with the care it needs and deserves.

Through the tremendous generosity of Mary Jo and Dave Livingston, the Capital Humane Society has been able to acquire a 2.75 acre property at 70th and Highway 2 in south Lincoln near the Home Depot. Unlike our current facility on Park Boulevard, this will be a highly visible, easy to access site for our new Adoption Center. It will be a model of best practices in animal sheltering.

Our current shelter is noisy, cramped and not conducive to people spending quality time with animals. The new Center will offer a much more inviting and interactive environment for both our human and animal guests. It will be a place people truly want to visit and linger.
